When you have Asset types set up and their Relationships correctly configured the next step is to assign your related assets. There are a couple of different options for doing this.
Asset Panel Selection
On any search or browse page simply select the asset/assets you wish to assign a related asset to, then from the 'More' dropdown menu choose the Asset Type you wish to assign. A form will open with all the assets available of that Asset Type for you to select from.
If you see the assign option with no term (ie. 'Assign...') then that means no term is set for the sibling relationship of the children assets. Asset Bank uses the sibling term as it is unique and commonly the same as the desired child relationship whereas there can be multiple terms for the child relationship.
Below are two examples of a common use case for Asset Types: assigning model release forms to photographs.
Photograph as the parent asset
If you have photos with several people that all require release forms you can make the photo the parent assets and assign multiple Model Release Forms as child assets.
Model Release Form as the parent asset
If you have multiple photos containing the same person you would make the Model Release Form the parent asset and the photos as the child assets.
In the above example you can see that the advanced search form is opened to find assets. We have searched for any assets with a human face using our Auto Tagging feature however you can use any search criteria you wish.
Asset View Selection
On the asset view page there will be a Related Assets section towards the bottom of the page where you can view related assets, find existing related assets or upload new ones.
Metadata Import and Export
It's possible to assign related assets through a metadata import. This is useful for assigning a lot of relationships at the same time. To do this run a search for the assets you wish to assign and at the bottom of the search results page click the 'Export all results...' button.
Run the export without checking any of the boxes to get a tab-delimited file that you can open in Excel. From there you will see columns for "relatedAssets", "childAssets" and "parentAssets". Insert the Id of an asset you wish to assign in these columns. Multiple asset Ids should be seperated by a comma.
Back in Asset Bank go to Update Assets>Metadata Import where you can upload the new version of the tab-delimited file.
