You can connect Asset Bank to Canva using our CI HUB connector.
Contact us first to configure this for your app, and you can then get a free trial of the connector to ensure it does what you need.
The interface for CI Hub in Canva is slightly different than other apps, so we've detailed this here.
Installing CI HUB
You can find the connector via the 'Apps' menu item. Then search for CI Hub.
Once installed, you'll then want to find Asset Bank in the Connections list:
You'll then be able to connect to your Asset Bank and log in, so that it knows which permission to give you.
This will open a new window where you need to enter your CI HUB trial credentials. After this you will be asked to enter your Asset Bank Base URL.
To avoid entering the wrong URL, please copy and paste this from your Asset Bank as follows:
1 - Login to your Asset Bank
2 - Click the 'About' link at the bottom of your Asset Bank
3 - On the About page you will see your Base URL. This is what you need to copy and paste into the CI HUB panel.
Enter your details and press Login.
You'll now be able to access your assets within Canva.
Using the Asset Bank - Canva integration
Once active you will be able to browse into Folders, your personal lightboxes/collections and even categories (if configured).
Alternatively you can search for assets and this works in the same way as the search feature in Asset Bank.
Once you search and see results, you can optionally filter these by orientation or the part of the folder structure they are in.
Once you have found the asset you want, you can click on this to see more details including the rendition options (e.g. alternative sizes and formats that you can use):
And if you scroll down further you can see some key metadata:
Using an image
To use the image you've found, you can either click "Add" to insert the image, or just drag and drop it. You can also select a different rendition first, to get that option instead of the original.
Copying across metadata
Any metadata that you can see can also be dragged and dropped onto the canvas. This is useful if you have product data that you want to use, without having to re-key it.
Note, displaying bespoke metadata fields, from your Asset Bank, is coming soon!
In this example, I've dragged and dropped in an image and have also dragged and dropped the "Title:"
Uploading designs back to Asset Bank
If you have upload permission, then to upload a Canva design to Asset Bank you first have to browse to the relevant folder via the CI HUB interface, then the 'Upload' button will become active:
