Bulk Updating allows you to select a group of assets and then apply the same metadata to all of the assets simultaneously.
It is also commonly used to append, replace or remove assets in bulk between folders/access levels/categories. Select Append if you wish to add/assign assets to another folder(s) whilst keeping the existing ones. Replace will remove existing folders and replace them with those selected; remove will unassign assets from the selected folder(s).
The easiest way to start a Bulk Update is to find the assets you'd like to update through search or browse and then select the relevant images and select Bulk Update from the 'update' button on the action bar.
The Bulk Update: Run an Update page lists all of the possible metadata fields that can be changed. For each attribute that you want to be updated in bulk, choose to either replace, append (add at the end) or prepend (add at the beginning) the current value, then fill in the new value in the right-hand column. If you leave the left hand drop down at its default '-Skip-' value, then that attribute will not be updated.
Note: If 'replace' is selected in the drop down and the corresponding field in the right-hand column is left blank, then the attribute value will be set to empty on all items in the batch. If you want to leave the content of existing attributes, but simply add a value or keyword to the beginning or end of the current values, you should select the prepend or append options respectively.
Click ‘Start Update' and you will be taken to a progress screen, which will then let you know when the update is complete.
Find and Replace
Once you have selected your assets, you can also choose to run a Find and Replace:
Type the text to find and replace and select the relevant options - match case and/or match whole word. Then choose which text attributes to be searched across.
