Problem
For some image formats (for example TIFF and PSD) Photoshop uses an alpha channel to store selections that a user has made when editing the image.
This extra alpha channel can cause problems when Asset Bank converts the image to different formats, for example when creating thumbnails.
Solution
You can control how your Asset Bank deals with alpha channels, when converting images, using the following setting:
discard-alpha-channel-on-convert
There are three possible values for this setting:
- yes: alpha channels are always discarded when converting images to a new format
- no: alpha channels are never discarded (this can give unsatisfactory results as Photoshop selections may appear in the converted thumbnails etc).
- selection: only discard when the first alpha channel is a selection (and so not a transparency). This is the recommended value.
